About the Job

 

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Research Associate CMC within the Chemistry Manufacturing and Control (CMC) group at Synaffix BV (a Lonza Company). The CMC group at Synaffix is responsible for the CMC activities that are required by our current and future partners in the development of their drug products, through clinical proof-of-concept and first-in-human testing. The CMC department has a central role within the organization with a focus on developing, manufacturing, and characterizing the components of the GlycoConnect platform and linker-payloads, as well as supporting of our partners with analytics for research, clinical development, and commercialization of Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs). We are looking for candidates with a passion for working in a chemical laboratory, with expertise in a broad range of synthetic techniques.

 

The Role

 

The Research Associate CMC will support the in-house and outsourced lab activities of the CMC department. The successful candidate will work closely with other researchers/scientists in an interdisciplinary team environment to help with all activities related to route scouting, process optimization, and scale-up in support of our ADC platform technology:

  • Design and execute multi-step synthesis and optimize through effective reaction planning, troubleshooting and systematic analysis. Perform proper documentation and accurate record-keeping of experimental data in an electronic lab journal.

  • Synthesize, purify and characterize compounds using a variety of techniques, including silica- and reversed phase column chromatography, crystallization, LCMS, NMR and HPLC.

  • Perform literature searches and stay abreast of recent advances in organic chemistry to contribute innovative solutions and improve synthetic strategies.

  • Write technical protocols and reports.

  • Prepare and revise analytical standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Support general CMC activities such as laboratory equipment maintenance, supply and inventory management.

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.

  • Working experience of 0-5 years.

  • Strong laboratory skills and a high degree of attention to detail.

  • Good understanding of, and hands-on experience with, analytical techniques such as HPLC, LCMS and NMR.

  • Proficient in spoken and written English.

  • A responsible person with a proactive attitude who can work independently.

  • Being flexible, analytical, and well-organized.

  • A team player.
