Press release: Pivot Park grows by over 25% with the completion of the Grizzly project
Today, contractor Dura Vermeer Bouw Zuid completes the Grizzly project after nearly 2 years of construction, delivering it to Pivot Park. The 9-story building, named after Nobel laureate Marie Curie, will house offices, laboratories, and shared facilities. With the completion of this sustainable building, Pivot Park adds 11,000 square meters to its successful campus, marking an expansion of over 25 percent.
Brigitte Drees, CEO of Pivot Park, stated, “The Curie building is fully occupied by companies that already rented space at Pivot Park but needed more. Successful start-ups and scale-ups at Pivot Park frequently transform innovations into pharmaceuticals on their way to market introduction. Space is therefore in high demand. About 350 people from 6 different companies will work in the new building starting next year.”
Sustainability at its peak
The Curie building is a gas-free and Nearly Energy Neutral Building (BENG) due to the use of fossil-free installations, LED lighting, and solar panels. Additionally, the building will receive the sustainable BREEAM certificate. Erik Meerwaldt, COO of Pivot Park, said, “BREEAM examines sustainable aspects from construction to occupancy. This includes the use of materials, light, and air. It also involves waste separation during construction, even extending to biodiversity around the building.”
Future plans
Project Grizzly was funded by the province of North Brabant and the municipality of Oss, the shareholders of Pivot Park. With the completion of Grizzly, new construction at Pivot Park is finished, but future plans are already in development. Brigitte Drees stated, “First and foremost, we are incredibly proud to have realized this project. Many different parties have worked very hard. And, of course, we are also looking ahead. The next building is on the drawing board. The focus here is on lifelong learning and an incubator for startups. Naturally, we will also build new space for companies in growth. With this set of functions, we strengthen the status of the entire campus,” said Drees.
From mid-January, the first tenants will receive their keys. The official opening of the building will take place on 19 September 2024.
