Grizzly, the newest building at Pivot Park, has reached it’s highest point this week. Grizzly provides space for offices and laboratories. This space is much needed, because successful start-ups and scale-ups are outgrowing their space. With the arrival of Grizzly, Pivot Park stimulates innovation and employment. Companies will have the space and facilities to develop further. This allows them to excel further and to continue to play a leading role worldwide in the field in which they operate.
Growth by success
“Over the past five years, the number of leased square meters has doubled,” said Brigitte Drees, CEO Pivot Park. “Companies already located at our park are developing and currently outgrowing their premises. Not only companies of the first hour, but also the younger companies are successful. They frequently manage to turn innovations into a drug on its way to market introduction. So, since the existing buildings are full, we are now building new, modern sustainable buildings for these companies.”
Sustainability
Grizzly is a gas-free and ‘Bijna Energie Neutraal Gebouw’ (BENG) through for example the use of fossil-free systems, LED lighting and solar panels. Traditionally, chemical companies use gas for their research and production processes. Through the use of induction, for example, the lab also manages to carry out work without gas. The completion is set to be done at the end of 2023 by Dura Vermeer. After that, the tenants of Grizzly will start furnishing their own spaces.
Joint financing makes realization possible
Shareholders the province of North Brabant and the municipality of Oss are financing the building and thus contributing to profitable operation. According to deputy Erik Ronnes, this is about much more than erecting a brick building. “With this new building, we strengthen the ecosystem that exists on such a campus. It is important that companies and people sit near each other, share facilities and thus come to new products and services. In this way, a campus is the core of entrepreneurship, innovation and education.”
Employment
Grizzly is located at the biopharmaceutical campus Pivot Park, which currently provides space for more than 1.000 employees. With its 60 companies, the company plays an important role as an employer in the region. Brigitte Drees: “That 1.000 employees is an important milestone. Developments are going fast now. New construction is important to continue this growth. In this way, Pivot Park facilitates that these companies are retained for Oss and remain in Oss for the next 10 years.
Pivot Park
From starting entrepreneurs funded in part by the Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM), fast-growing scale-ups to mature market leaders, Pivot Park helps these innovative companies take the next steps. In addition, the many companies on the park can help each other in the complex process of drug development. Tailored facilities, shared sources of knowledge, short lines to specialist financiers and also flexible access to outstanding scientific and entrepreneurial expertise also make Pivot Park the hotspot for pharmaceutical innovation in Europe.
