At Pivot Park we want to offer a place for international community members to master the Dutch language and meet peers. Acerta Pharma developed an expat program for their international employees and experienced great added value. Therefore, Pivot Park and Acerta Pharma have joined forces and developed a 10-week program for the entire community.
In July a small group of international community members finished the first edition of the ‘Expat Program’ at Pivot Park. For 10 weeks they have taken Dutch lessons followed by either Dutch culture training or group activities.
Ali, one of the participants states: “First, I would like to thank you and the expat program team for organising such an excellent opportunity for foreign people. Zahra and I loved it and could learn many things not only in Dutch language but also become familiar with Dutch culture. I have a great memory of both the Dutch course and Dutch culture training.”
In addition, we also asked Ali what the funniest thing he has learned from the Dutch culture is: “The funniest thing that I can mention is the gift that we received from Jolien (Dutch teacher) on the last day. It was a white plastic rod about 30 cm long with a red silicone attachment. Jolien asked Zahra and me to guess what it was. We didn’t know the application of this gift. But, finally, after a number of questions and wild guesses, we found out what the product was used for. It turned out to be a ‘Flessenlikker’!”
Second edition
We will organise the second edition of this program after the summer holidays. Would you like to participate in this course? Please contact your employer and keep an eye on our communication channels (Pivot TV, community app and Monday Morning Post) for more information.
