Scientist/Senior Scientist Organic Chemistry (PhD)

Prime objective of the R&D group at Synaffix (Lonza Oss) is to provide best-in-class targeted delivery technologies, i.e. development of protein conjugation technologies, linkers and payloads. General focus is on cytotoxic ADCs, however other modalities are also being pursued, such as immuno-oncology, targeted gene therapy, neuromuscular disease. A junior/senior scientist will play a key role in realizing and/or giving direction to Synaffix’ R&D agenda. Depending on the candidate’s experience, this position may be designated as either a Scientist or Senior Scientist role”
Job description
- Possesses expert knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and/or medicinal chemistry
- Designs and executes complex multi-step total synthesis routes and incorporates state-of-the-art procedures
- Supervises, educates and inspires direct reports
- Performs project management diligently and reshapes where necessary
- Acts as an inspirational team leader and teacher to direct reports
- Generates scientific data within a project through performing experiments, leveraging CRO’s, and managing research associates
- Processes relevant literature to gain scientific project expertise, trouble shoot and to identify new opportunities
- Provides scientific/intellectual input to the company’s research agenda
- Acts as a sounding board for management
- Understands and explains the corporate strategy to peers and/or team
- Sets and delivers on individual and team objectives that support the company strategy
- Communicates professionally in English both verbally and in writing
