We are seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join our team as a Lead Business Developer/Sales Manager. In this dual role, you will play a crucial part in expanding our business and driving sales growth by identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities within the rapidly growing RNA biotech sector.
The challenge, but also attractiveness of the dual role lies in the variation in activities this role provides: on one hand you are in direct contact with major players in the biopharma and biotech industry, marrying their drug development needs with our superior RNA technologies to create high-value alliances and deals. On the other hand, you coach the sales team to support ongoing customer relationships and acquire new customers with a less complex profile.
- Identify and target potential business opportunities in the RNA biotech and biopharma industry, including partnerships, collaborations, and licensing agreements.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape, market trends, and customer needs in this rapidly developing market, in order to drive strategic decision-making and identify new sales opportunities. This includes staying updated with advancements in the mRNA field and emerging industry trends.
- Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and investors. Deliver compelling presentations and pitches to prospective clients, showcasing the value and unique selling points of our mRNA-centred
- Lead the negotiation and closing of business deals, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes for all parties involved. Success takes the shape of high value (both monetary and societal impact) long-term partnership deals.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional, highly motivated teams, including R&D, marketing, sales, and legal, to ensure seamless execution of business development strategies.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Track sales performance, provide regular reports, and contribute to sales forecasting activities.
- Manage and lead the sales team in a safe and supportive manner.
- Master’s degree or PhD in (molecular) biotechnology, or a related field.
- Proven track record in business development (and preferably sales) within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong understanding of mRNA, genetic therapeutics, and the broader life sciences industry.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Fluent in English. Fluent in second or third language a pre.
