Dennis Löwik: New lector Drug Discovery at Pivot Park

We welcome Dennis Löwik as the new lector of the Drug Discovery lectureship at Pivot Park. Dennis takes over from Pedro Hermkens, who successfully rolled out and led the minor three years ago. Dennis brings with him more than 20 years of experience in medicinal chemistry and aims to expand the lectureship in terms of people and research in the coming years. With his broad knowledge and expertise, he focuses on improving the early stage of drug discovery, with innovative techniques such as artificial intelligence (AI). We are excited to see how the professorship will contribute to new collaborations and the future of drug research in the coming years.

Importance of the Drug Discovery Lectureship

Pivot Park values learning programmes like the Drug Discovery lectureship. It offers students and researchers the opportunity to combine knowledge from practice and academia, which is crucial for the development of new drugs. Through these programmes, innovations are accelerated, and important knowledge is shared between industry and educational institutions. The lectorate, which is part of the HAN University of Applied Sciences, plays a central role in this by giving young researchers the space to develop and contribute to important discoveries in the field of drug development.

Dennis Löwik’s Vision

‘My goal is to grow the lectorate and make it more impactful,’ says Löwik. He envisions a future where companies from all over the Netherlands come to the lectureship with questions about drug research. There are currently four lector researchers working there, but Dennis wants to increase this number and attract more research funding so that more time can be devoted to research alongside teaching.

Dennis’ focus is on making drug development faster and cheaper, using AI. In addition to his work at HAN, he continues to conduct research at Radboud University, where he is working on cell-penetrating peptides, which can bring medication to specific cells in a targeted way.

Erwin Wurm | Am I a House?

For the first time, the artist shows a cross-section of his work, from Narrow Furniture to One Minute Sculptures, within the walls of a historic building. Villa Constance, a former home that today houses Museum Jan Cunen, is not only a location but also part of the conversation. Because what exactly is a house?
